Victoria Bay: In almost perfect conditions, WP riders took the bulk of the honours at the SA Waveski Surfing Championships held at Victoria Bay near George on 25 and 26 April. With a light offshore breeze prevailing, Vic Bay’s legendary right hand break produced five to six foot waves on the first day, moderating to four or five feet on the second and final day. Diminishing surf on the second day forced many contestants pushing their final point-chase rides ever closer to the rock-strewn promenade, producing some exciting rides and occasional hair-raising moments. |

So the initial teething problems are out of the way... although private messages are still archived at the moment and there are a couple of other loose bits... but the bulk of the new site is working including new features and functionality, including a improved blog and forums functions, events calendar (waiting for events people) and a return of the links section (also waiting for any missing links). Hope you all enjoy and keep send content! Oh... and you can also keep up to date with us on twitter... @waveskiinfo (twitter.com/waveskiinfo). Cheers... John. |

Sebastian Inlet is one of the premier surf breaks on the East Coast of the United States and known worldwide. We have secured the same location that major Pro-Surf Contests occupy when they throw their contests at the Inlet. The opportunity to surf this world famous premier surf break in a contest will be a first time event ever for Sebastian Inlet as well as all paddle surfers that attend. There has never been a solo Paddle Surfing Contest at Sebastian inlet, this is a first!
More good news too, we have secured a new sponsor! |

Cronin is King winning both the Masters and Open Division in the NZ World Invitational Titles. Surf conditions at Makaroori Beach was every surfers dream - all day off shore, peeling A frames, exclusivity of the break, plenty of sunshine and a comp run in one day. Hats off to the Gizzy crew and Waveski Surfing NZ for putting together a magic day. Fourteen of the countries top surfers turned out for the Open which was run on a second chance format only. The Auckland Bros separated at Birth (Brian Howard, Nic Botica and Vince Gardner) were pretty amped to take home something to show off to the grand kids. But local identities Nigel Bryant and Cronin the Barbarian had other ideas. |
